Isabel Burgos-DeStephanis is an American cellist from Tucson Arizona. Born into a family of musicians, she began playing the cello at six years old. In her youth Isabel played in Tucson Junior Strings, a chamber orchestra for kids ages 5-early college. This is where her love of chamber music began. Studying under director Dennis Bourret, an esteemed Tucson violist, she learned a wide range of chamber music pieces, composers, and techniques.

Isabel is currently working on her bachelor’s in cello performance and music education at the University of Arizona studying under Theodore Buchholz. At the University of Arizona Isabel has had many amazing opportunities. She has performed in masterclasses led by Brooklyn Rider string quartet and cellist Julian Schwarz. She has also performed in a number of competitions. In Spring of 2023 she won the string solo competition for music written after 1950 by underrepresented composer and a few months after she won the Tucson cello congress competition in winter of 2023. Isabel currently participates in the Arizona Symphony orchestra and the chamber music program at the University of Arizona. Her favorite chamber piece to play and listen to is Shostakovich piano quintet in g minor. Her favorite symphony to play is Sibelius symphony No. 2. Isabel has studied chamber music at Arianna chamber music festival in St. Louis, Missouri and Redfish chamber music festival in Port Orford, Oregon. In her free time Isabel enjoys baking, riding horses, and line dancing.
